What is On Web Learning...

OWL is a complete online learning software program. OWL components include:

  • Course creation: OWL lets you reuse existing content and create new content in just about any program that allows web viewing. You can use word processing programs, web creation programs, spread sheets, multimedia, video, audio and more to create interactive and compelling course content.
You can assign course development privileges to a as many people as necessary for each course. Content creation can be completed right in the course development section using a WYSIWYG interface which allows images to be uploaded directly to the server with no FTP program necessary.
You have the option of creating a pre-test and a post-test for every course. You can also create individual lesson tests with a minimum passing score.

  • Course distribution: OWL allows you to create multiple "Associates". Each of these associates manage their own set of courses (assigned by the Sitemaster) or allowed to create their own courses, set up their own developers and instructors. These associates also have permission to set up multiple clients and assign a set number of students for each client.

  • Student registration: Students can be manually registered through the Associate interface and through the Client interface. Students can also be allowed to self-register through a form based interface. All you need to do is add a registration page to your site. An optional e-commerce package can be added to allow the students to register and pay for a course online. They are given immediate access to the course materials.

  • Taking the course: OWL gives your students a simple, automated interface that is easy to understand and use. The program is intelligent enough to keep the student on the right path without undue interaction with an instructor. Each student is assigned an instructor for situations that they can’t work through for themselves. Help files (on every page) can be turned on or off with a single click.
Each course can be set with a maximum number of days for the student to have access to the course materials. Once the end date has been reached the student no longer has access to the materials.

  • Student support: Student progress can be accessed through the Associate, Client and Instructor interface. You can review the progress of the student, test scores and lesson start dates to make sure the student is progressing at a satisfactory pace.
